Get ready because it’s Satya Nadella Day! Day three at Microsoft Inspire 2018

July 19th, 2018

Today was a big day in the Microsoft Inspire agenda because it was Satya Day! I always love watching Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO, speak because he has such immense passion for Microsoft’s purpose and mission. In his corenote address, he covered a lot of meaningful customer stories and touched on each of Microsoft’s 6 solution areas – Gaming, Modern Life, Modern Workplace, Business Applications, Data and AI and Apps and Infrastructure. The big standout for me was his personal demo of Microsoft 365 where he showed the public loop, outer loop and inner loop concepts of Microsoft 365. He seamlessly moved between communicating with anyone through Outlook, having a broad conversations with the entire organisation in Yammer and then deep teamwork with his direct reports in Microsoft Teams. It was clear to see that a workplace can be truly modernised through Microsoft 365 on mobile, PC and tablet with these apps and more. This Corenote was special for another reason because it was the first time that both Microsoft partners and employees came together to hear a shared vision for the year from Microsoft leadership.

The next highlight for me was the Microsoft Teams and HoloLens demonstrations. The first was showing how AI can be infused in a meeting room experience – identifying meeting attendees, transcribing their speech live and automatically capturing actions for follow-up afterwards. The second was the first time we’ve seen a hologram in a meeting dubbed “HoloBean”. At the meeting table we saw a person projected into a seat that was beamed in from a remote location, which is truly some Star Trek level stuff!

What a wrap up!

Tonight (Wednesday night) will be a big one for the Cloud Collective with OneCelebration happening at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. We’re in for a treat with 40,000 of our close Microsoft and partner friends with a performance from a Grammy award winning artist, themed areas, games and lots of amazing food and beverages.

Inspire has absolutely been a transformative event for myself and the Cloud Collective. It’ll allow us to return home energised and ready to help Australian organisations achieve more by digitally transform their products, employees and customer experiences.
